Pelagic clays and deep-water ferromanganese (Fe-Mn) crusts are excellent archives for understanding the processes and products of continental and oceanic sedimentation. However, the sources and processes influencing their variability in the Central Indian Basin (CIB) remain unclear. Through a combined Hafnium-Neodymium-Strontium isotope systematics, we have constrained the sources for a suite of pelagic clays and silicate residues of Fe-Mn crusts from the Afanasiy-Nikitin Seamount (ANS) of the CIB. Our results, both in Nd-Sr and Nd-Hf isotope space, demonstrate that the clays and the silicate residues of ANS Fe-Mn crusts are largely sourced from the Himalaya and the arc volcanics of Indonesia.
