An optimized staggered grid finite difference operator for seismic wave simulation in poroelastic media

This technique uses a mixed operator length to approximate spatial derivatives to improve accuracy and stability. The numerical solutions closely resemble the analytical solutions and all waves predicted by Biot’s theory are generated. Application to 2D homogenous model, two-layered model including substantial amounts of CO2 sequestration and 3D poroelastic model has demonstrated the efficacy of the technique with reduced computational time.
