Facilities extended to the Research Scholar and Project staff

      

Every effort has been made to provide the best existing facilities for students who live on campus. For the comfortable stay of research scholars and project staff of CSIR-NGRI, on campus accommodation is provided in the Research scholar’s hostels and NGRI staff quarters located in beautiful green gardens, providing an ideal environment for a congenial learning experience to the students. Every student has access to a wide range of activities and facilities such as sports complex, Gym etc.

 

I. Accommodation

  1. All applications and allocations of accommodation by research scholar and project staff are routed to, and processed by the Student Welfare Committee (SWC).
  2. Allocation will be made depending on vacancy on merit basis, as per CSIR-NGRI rules.
  3. The following order of priority (from most to least preferred) shall be followed for allocation of accommodation to Research and Project fellows:
    1. Fellowship holders (JRFs, SRFs, others) will be accommodated in New Hostel.
    2. Women Project Fellows will be accommodated in Old Hostel on twin sharing basis.
    3. Male Project Fellows will be accommodated in Quarters on sharing basis.
    4. Married Research/Project fellows will be provided family accommodation in quarters only.
    5. Post-Doctoral Fellows and Project Scientists will be accommodated in Quarters only.
  4. A Research/Project Fellow can avail NGRI accommodation for a maximum period of 5 years, co‐terminus with the fellowship/project tenure.
  5. Students selected as Summer/Winter trainees/Masters Dissertation work at CSIR-NGRI will be provided accommodation in quarters for their approved training period.
  6. Accommodation may be provided to students coming for short term work in CSIR-NGRI’s Hostel/Staff quarters on a sharing basis depending on the availability.
  7. Family members of the students may be allotted dormitories for a maximum period of 5 days.

 

II. Canteen:

  1. Canteen facilities to research and project staff who live on campus will be provided as per the existing CSIR-NGRI norms.
  2. Except for residents who are availing family accommodation in quarters and foreign students, all temporary research and project staff who live on campus are required to avail the lunch and dinner facility at the CSIR-NGRI Food-Court as per the rates with advance payment.
  3. COOKING IS NOT ALLOWED IN HOSTEL ROOMS/ KITCHENS.

 

III. Sports, cultural and other activities:

  1. Facilities for the sports like Cricket, Badminton, Carom, Table Tennis, Volley ball etc. are available in the campus.
  2. GYM and YOGA facilities.
  3. New Year, Saraswati Puja, Holi, Diwali, etc. involving students are celebrated in the campus.
  4. Daycare and CSIR-NGRI school are available in the campus.

 

IV. Medical:

  1. Medical facilities available in NGRI Dispensary will be extended to the Research/Project Fellows.
