The CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (CSIR-NCL) in Pune hosted the inaugural ceremony of the ‘One Week One Theme Program’ (OWOT) of CSIR today, focusing on ‘Energy and Energy Devices’. The event featured an inspiring welcome message from Dr. (Mrs.) N. Kalaiselvi, Director General of CSIR and Secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR). Directors of various CSIR laboratories were also present, fostering an exchange of scientific ideas and collaboration. The OWOT initiative aims to showcase innovative approaches and technological advancements from CSIR laboratories, with each week dedicated to one of CSIR's eight core themes. This week's theme, "Energy and Energy Devices (EED)," encompasses several key areas: Hydrogen, Batteries and other energy storage technologies, Alternative fuels with a focus on biofuels, and Solar and Wind energy, particularly non-silicon and offshore technologies.A standout participant in this theme is the CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI), contributing with its exploration of Geothermal Energy. Multiple CSIR labs are involved in R&D programs aligned with these verticals. The OWOT program, running from June 24-28, 2024, will feature activities and presentations across various labs. This event is set to unite leading scientists and researchers, presenting ground breaking work in the energy sector. It aims to propel technological advancements and stimulate innovation across the country, reinforcing India's position in global scientific research and development.
