NGRI-GSI-NMET

Sh. V. L. Kantha Rao, Secretary, Min. of Mines and Sri Asit Saha, Director General, Geological Survey of India, visited CSIR-NGRI on 03.07.2025 for discussions on ongoing projects and future prospects for GSI & CSIR-NGRI collaborations.

The CSIR–National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), Hyderabad, had the honor of hosting Shri V.L. Kantha Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Government of India, and Shri Asit Saha, Director General, Geological Survey of India (GSI), for a detailed review of ongoing NMET (National Mineral Exploration Trust) funded projects. The visit commenced with a concise and informative presentation by the Director of NGRI, highlighting the institute’s key contributions in the domain of Earth sciences and mineral exploration. The session was followed by an in-depth discussion on the progress and impact of NMET-supported initiatives, with a focus on advancing geoscientific research in India.

Deliberations also centered around the scope for future collaboration, enhancing long-term partnerships between NGRI and GSI, and strengthening India’s capacity in mineral resource mapping and sustainable exploration through cutting-edge geoscientific studies.

This visit marks a significant step toward fostering synergy between premier geoscientific institutions and the Ministry of Mines for a self-reliant and mineral-secure India.
