Review of global occurrence of artificial water reservoir triggered seismicity (RTS) have shown that these events occur at shallow depth. If an RTS site is in a Stable Continental Region, there would be no other earthquake sources, and it provides an excellent opportunity to investigate earthquake nucleation, which has not yet been observed anywhere. Recent advances in technology and their application at Koyna, India RTS site have provided a key to comprehend genesis/nucleation of earthquakes.
