Research Area

Dr. Manavalan Satyanarayanan joined CSIR-NGRI in April 2004 and is in charge of the high resolution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry lab. He is gold medalist in B.Sc. Geology from Presidency College, Chennai, and has completed Doctorate in Applied Geology from University of Madras in 2001. He is a dynamic scientist specializing on development of integrated methods for geological and geophysical studies on sulfide mineralization. His focus on developmental research is oriented towards in-situ micro beam mineral analysis for trace elements by laser ablation HR-ICP-MS and isotope dilution mass spectrometry for precise determination of trace elements and isotope ratios. His current research work on mineral exploration pertains to studies on petrology and geochemistry of the Precambrian mafic/ultramafic complexes with special emphasis on precious metals (PGE & Au) metallogeny. He has made significant contribution in the field of Precambrian Geology and Analytical Geochemistry in collaboration with several national and international organizations in a research career spanning more than two decades. He has published over 100 research papers in peer reviewed scientific journals. Recognizing his services, the Indian Society of Applied Geochemists, Hyderabad, has awarded "Best contribution in the field of Analytical Geochemistry award in last ten year (2002-12)"
