Geology, Geochemistry

Research Area

The current research areas include the petrology and geochemistry of Precambrian mafic-ultramafic rocks, with a special focus on the metallogeny of platinum group elements (PGE). Additionally, the research encompasses analytical geochemistry, emphasizing the conceptual development of analytical techniques for precise determination using isotope dilution and laser ablation methods. Furthermore, the research extends to environmental geochemistry, investigating the geochemistry of water, soil, aerosols, and road dust.

Honors & Awards

Awarded the National Merit Scholarship in 1992 for achieving the highest consolidated marks in B.Sc. Geology at Presidency College, Chennai. In the academic year 1991-1992, I was recognized for my exemplary performance as a Cadet Under-Officer by the National Cadet Corps (4/2 and 3/13 TN BN NCC). I received a Rank Certificate for securing the first rank in B.Sc. Geology from 1989 to 1992 by the Department of Geology, Presidency College, Chennai. I was granted the University Research Fellowship by the University of Madras from February 1999 to April 2001 to conduct research in Geochemistry, followed by the Senior Research Fellowship from UGC-CSIR from May 2001 to March 2004 for further research in the same field. In 2008-2009, I was awarded the BOYSCAST Fellowship by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi, which I utilized from May 2009 to May 2010 at Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John’s, Canada. I am an Associate Fellow of the Andhra Pradesh Akademi of Sciences and received the Best Contribution in Analytical Geochemistry award for the decade 2002-2012 from the Indian Society of Applied Geochemists, Hyderabad.
