Dr. Laxmidhar Behera received M.Sc.Tech Applied Geophysics degree from Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad and Ph.D degree in Exploration Geophysics from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. Dr. Behera has pursued Postdoctoral research during 2006-2007 from the Center for Wave Phenomena (CWP), Colorado school of Mines, CO, USA by availing the prestigious BOYSCAST Fellowship from DST, Govt. of India and developed a technique for anisotropic migration velocity analysis for tilted transversely isotropic (TTI) media having tremendous application in hydrocarbon exploration in complex geological environments. Dr. Behera has 16 years experience in oil industry and NGRI and primarily involved in R & D for oil and gas industry, specialization in seismic imaging with migration, velocity analysis, tomography and anisotropy. Presently involved in anisotropic migration velocity analysis and tomography for imaging complex geological targets of interest for oil & gas exploration, also apply these techniques to understand the crustal tectonics and geodynamics of the Earth. Dr. Behera has more than 20 papers in peer reviewed reputed national and international journals in the field of Earth Science and also written a book. Dr. Behera has several awards to his credit and few of them are Harinarain Gold Medal by the Mining, Geological and Metallurgical Institute (MGMI) of India in 1996 for securing First Rank in M.Sc. Tech., Applied Geophysics (1995), ISM, Dhanbad. ONGC-AEG Best Ph. D. Thesis Award in 2003. Krishnan Gold Medal in 2007 from the Indian Geophysical Union (IGU) for research excellence in Exploration Geophysics. Fellow of IGU in 2007. FastTrack Young Scientist Award from DST, 2009.
