The Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR) was established as an Institution of National Importance by an Act of Parliament in 2010 (by a resolution of GOI on July 17, 2010) and formalized vide The Gazette of India (dated February 7, 2012) which was notified on April 3, 2012.

The AcSIR is a world class research academy functioning within 37 national laboratories, 6 units and 39 extension centres, encompassing biological, physical, chemical and engineering sciences, of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) that have the country’s best infrastructural facilities.
